AFCC MN POLICIES Cancellation Policy for AFCC MN Training events. If registered participant cancels any time after registration but before one month of the beginning of training date, registration funds will be refunded less a $100 Administrative Fee. If a participant cancels within one month of the training date, there will be no refund. However, that training registration can be applied to a future training offered within one calendar year. If the participant does not register for a training within the calendar year, the registration fee is forfeited to AFCC-MN. If training is cancelled by AFCC-MN, all registration fees are returned. The Training Committee Chair will inform the Treasurer of the cancellation, and the Treasurer will initiate the appropriate refunds. Cancellation Policy for AFCC MN Education events. If registered participant cancels any time after registration but before two weeks of the beginning of an education date, registration funds will be refunded less a 20% Administrative Fee. If a participant cancels within two weeks of the education date, there will be no refund. However, that education registration can be applied to a future education offered within one calendar year. If the participant does not register for an education within the calendar year, the registration fee is forfeited to AFCC-MN. If education is cancelled by AFCC-MN, all registration fees are returned. The education Committee Chair will inform the Treasurer of the cancellation, and the Treasurer will initiate the appropriate refunds. AFCC-MN also receives Personal Data from third parties for use in marketing to potential new members, or conference registrants, such as lists of members from other organizations. Non-Personal Data: AFCC-MN also collects information (whether online, by phone, or by paper) that does not directly identify you as you interact with AFCC-MN. We use this data to improve the usability of our website and membership management software. The types of Non-Personal Data we collect includes, but is not limited to: Site usage (e.g., browsing history, search terms, number of clicks, referring/exit pages, date/time stamp, time on Site); Products and services viewed, including advertisements for such products and services; Computer type, operating system and platform type; Internet service provider What we do with the information we gather: AFCC-MN requires your information for the following reasons: To publish the AFCC-MN online directory, which is password protected and accessible only to AFCC-MN members; To publish electronic conference registration lists (excluding email addresses), which are distributed to conference registrants; To process orders, registrations and membership applications. BLOOM Bloom Lines Alexander LLC Dan is a member of the law firm Bloom Lines Alexander LLC, where he practices exclusively in the area of family law. In addition to his litigation and collaborative practice, he is a mediator and arbitrator in family law matters, serves as a Guardian ad Litem in Superior Courts throughout the State and is frequently retained as a consultant in high conflict custody matters. Formerly, Dan was Deputy Director of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation where he established their Domestic Violence project, administered the Guardian ad Litem program, and supported the Foundation’s volunteers in their pro bono efforts on behalf of low-income individuals and families. He served for five years as a Magistrate Judge in Fulton County Superior Court, specially assigned to the Family Division. Dan trains attorneys, Judges and advocates on issues related to intimate partner violence, and lectures frequently on parenting and custody issues unique to same-gender couples. Dan served on the Temporary Protective Order Registry Steering Committee for the Georgia Commission on Family Violence, on the Advisory Committee for the Georgia Domestic Violence Fatality Review Project, on the Board of Directors for the Partnership Against Domestic Violence, on the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Georgia Family Law Section, is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, and served on the Advisory Board for the Health Law Partnership at the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. Currently, Dan is on the Advisory Board for the Emory Public Interest Committee at Emory Law School, and recently completed a 3-year term as the public member on the Ethics Committee of the American Psychological Association. He received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University and his J.D. from Emory University School of Law. Dr. Reid, is the owner of Relationships, llc, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Minnesota, and a previous adjunct faculty member at North Central University and previous faculty at Argosy University’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program. Dr. Reid graduated from East Carolina University with his Masters, and his doctorate from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Reid practices from an experiential, structural and solution focused approach. Dr. Reid believes feminism and cultural responsibility are roots to change, respectful service and relationships. Chart COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE The Membership Committee’s purpose is to recruit and retain members for the Minnesota Chapter of the AFCC. As such, the members of the committee meet regularly, attend all AFCC functions, create and distribute membership materials, and serve as the liaison between the Chapter and potential new members. EDUCATION COMMITTEE The Education Committee works to develop, implement, and evaluate continuing education programs for the multi-disciplinary professionals who work with families in conflict. The committee draws upon local and national experts to provide the highest quality training. The programming formats include quarterly Lunch and Learn programs, semi-annual half-day programs and an Annual Conference, held in connection with our Annual Meeting. The Annual Conference Committee, a sub-committee of Education, is charged with planning and organizing the Annual Conference. The Committee seeks input from members and others about topics of interest and speakers who will provide high-quality training experiences. FINANCE COMMITTEE The AFCC-MN Finance Committee oversees and monitors the fiscal operations of the organization as dictated by the AFCC-MN by-Laws. The committee includes the AFCC-MN Treasurer and at least one AFCC-MN Board Member (Chair). The Finance Committee is responsible for: Providing a recommendation for an annual budget to the Board of Directors Providing financial information to the Board and Committees for planning and analysis. Providing recommendations for the policies relating to the fiscal operations of the organization. Other duties as the Board from time to time directs. LEGISLATIVE AND PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE It is the purpose of the Legislation and Public Policy committee to determine and promote the public policy positions of AFCC-MN. The committee is charged with responsibility for: Monitoring and promoting legislative positions that are authorized by the AFCC-MN Board of Directors. Making recommendations to the Board about taking official position regarding a particular policy, regulation or legislation Providing active advocacy on specific legislation Recommending criteria for determining whether AFCC-MN will actively engage in advocacy on specific issues, policies, regulations, or legislation NOMINATING COMMITTEE Recruit and recommend board members and officers to ensure the long-term stability of AFCC-MN, and suggest policies and procedures and develop rules and responsibilities for the Board and the Executive Committee. PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE The purpose of the PR Committee is to promote and advance AFCC-MN through increased visibility. Specifically, the Public Relations Committee is charged with responsibility for: Procuring sponsorships Promoting events created by the Education Committee Increasing organizational visibility Maintaining and updating the website Creating policies for the website, i.e., what is posted or promoted on the site Creating and disseminating a regular newsletter Creating policies for what is included in the newsletter Managing publications Creating and distributing press releases Building relationships with other organizations, e.g., academic; determining organizations for outreach, and specifying the nature and purpose of the relationship Creating a national conference coordinator Creating a speakers’ bureau Liaison with the Education Committee TRAINING COMMITTEE Training Committee shall be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating AFCC-MN’s Alternative Dispute Resolution training programs and conferences. The Training Committee shall also liaison with the Mediation Center’s Steering Committee for the purpose of furthering the Training Committee’s goals until such time as the Mediation Center’s Steering Committee no longer exists or until AFCC-MN’s Board of Directors votes to end that relationship. VALUES COMMITTEE Values Committee shall be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of policies to support AFCC-MN’s commitment to expanding inclusion at all levels of the organization, and furthering the organization’s mission of improving the lives of children and families through the resolution of family conflict.
